Ever since we got married, life has been perfect. Andre is still the reigning king of the fashion world and I am getting closer to getting my degree. Then two little lines change everything…

But when my husband comes home with life-changing news, for the first time our “perfect life” is put to the test. Andre is on the verge of realizing one of his biggest dreams. What will matter more, the lure of Hollywood or the comfort of home?

The front door creaks open, announcing Andre’s arrival, and I snap back to the present. My heartbeat quickens as he steps into the room, his warm smile and familiar scent instantly making my heart swell with love.

"Cara, were you waiting for me?" He leans down to give me a tender kiss on the forehead. "You look deep in thought. What's on your mind?"

I hesitate, searching his eyes for any sign of the reassurance I so desperately crave. The weight of my secret feels heavier now, pressing down on my chest and making it difficult to breathe. I swallow hard, mustering the courage to finally let him in on the life-changing news.

"Andre," I begin, my voice shaky and uncertain, "I have something to tell you."

“I have the most amazing news!”

We speak at the same time, our words a big jumble. It takes a second for what he said to register.

“Wait, you have news? What’s your news?” I ask hesitantly.

His smile is dazzling. I haven’t seen him this excited since our wedding day. He sits next to me on the couch and grabs my hand. 

“My agent found out today that I have an offer for a movie deal. They want me in Hollywood! Can you believe it?”

My mouth falls open. “What? That’s fantastic!”

The hand holding mine suddenly squeezes tight. “Isn’t it wonderful? It’s just a small part, playing myself, of course. But think of what it could do for the Lavin brand? Philippe will be over the moon when he finds out. He loves visiting California.”

The smile on my face freezes as the implication of his words finally sink in. California. Hollywood. 

Meaning two thousand miles across the country.
